A controversial Lexington councilman says he's stepping down because he's moving outside town limits and won't legally qualify for his seat anymore.
Danny Frazier has been on council for nine years, and went under the spotlight a year and a half ago when an investigation suggested his alleged involvement in the video poker business.
Town council and Lexington residents called for his ouster after audio recordings surfaced where he bragged how he hid illegal video gambling from law enforcement.
Frazier refused to resign then, saying his recorded statements were just exaggerations and were not true.
A State Law Enforcement Division investigation has been underway into the allegations.
Town officials say they plan a special election on April 8th to fill Frazier's spot on council.
