A motorcycle rider was killed in a collision in Kershaw County Friday morning and the other driver has been charged with felony DUI.

It happened about 4:30 a.m. on Pine Grove Road near Rabon Road.

The Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Lowell Stewart (pictured) of Lugoff was driving a car that collided with the motorcycle, ridden by 56-year-old DeWitt Peake.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but died at the scene.

Peake was a volunteer firefighter for the Pine Grove Fire Department.
