Coastal Carolina University is working to recover money that was stolen from the college in a phishing scam.
A release from the university says an individual claiming to represent a company contracted by the university sent an email to financial services requesting to change the company's bank information.
University officials say the unidentified individual provided what appeared to be appropriate documentation for the request. The university lost just over half a million dollars to the crime.
