Legal Substance Overdose Caused Death Of Richland County Teenager

A Chapin teenager is dead and the coroner says he was killed by a "totally legal substance."

The 16-year-old collapsed in a classroom in late April and later died in the hospital. The coroner's report says the boy's heart was sent into overdrive after he drank a McDonald's cafe latte, a diet Mountain Dew and an energy drink.

The high levels of caffeine in his system ultimately led to his death.
