Workers Strike At Savannah River Site

An unknown number of employees are said to be taking part in a strike at the Savannah River Site.

The job action began at 4 this morning by unionized contractor Centerra-SRS, which provides security at the Department of Energy nuclear operation in Aiken.

The strike follows the recent two-year extension of a contract first awarded 8 years ago and the union's rejection of a new collective bargaining agreement, after four months of talks.
