State Graduation Rate Reaches New High

(Columbia, SC)  --  What seems to be good news about education in the state has some urging caution.

The Department of Education yesterday announced the state's high school graduation rate is at its highest ever, at just under 85-percent.

A former member of the State Board of Education, though, says the numbers are inflated by the lowering of the minimum passing grade.

Larry Kobrovsky tells the "Post and Courier" the state is dumbing down education and claiming victory.
