Death Penalty Opponent Criticizes McMaster

(Columbia, SC)  --  The nun played by Susan Sarandon in the movie 'Dead Man Walking' is accusing South Carolina's governor of torture.

Sister Helen Prejean opposes the death penalty, but she did not celebrate Henry McMaster's announcement yesterday that an execution set for next month will not be carried out.

She tweeted that McMaster should never have set an execution date when he knew all along the state didn't have the lethal injection drugs to carry it out.  She claims that McMaster is guilty of staging a mock execution, which is recognized around the world as a form of torture.
