Flooding Expected As Congaree River Rises Due To Tropical Depression Sally

(Cayce, SC) -- The Congaree River in Cayce is expected to rise eight feet over the weekend.

This forecast from the National Weather Service comes after Sally hit the Midlands as a tropical depression. The Congaree River was nine feet deep as of last night.

It could reach 17 feet within three days, with floods likely to close the Cayce Riverwalk and impact farmlands and the Congaree National Park.

Officials remind residents not to get in or play in floodwaters as they could contain sewage or other harmful materials.
