(Columbia, SC) -- A new statue pays tribute to a popular South Carolina women's basketball player.
A statue of A'ja Wilson was unveiled outside of the front entrance of Colonial Life Arena yesterday. The project has been in the works since 2018.
Wilson is known for her time with the Gamecocks, which landed her the title of National Player of the Year and led to her being selected number one overall in the 2018 WNBA Draft.
Wilson has been named a two-time WNBA All-Star and the 2020 WNBA's Most Valuable Player.
