(Sumter County, SC) -- A Sumter man is accused of firing shots into a neighbor's home and hitting the neighbor's dog.

Thirty-seven-year-old David Davis is facing charges including attempted murder and ill-treatment of animals.

Authorities say Davis fired multiple shots through a neighbor's front door on Amanda Circle on Friday evening, hitting and killing the dog.

Davis fled into his home and did not come out for over an hour until gas canisters were deployed.
