$6M Settlement For Lawsuits Tied To 2018 Lee Correctional Riot

(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina will spend six-million dollars to settle lawsuits connected to a deadly prison riot. 

Seven inmates were killed and 22 people were hurt at Lee Correctional in 2018, leading to the indictments of 29 people. 

Now, the South Carolina State Fiscal Accountability Authority has approved the funds to settle 81 lawsuits tied to the riot. 

Officials will announce where the six-million dollars is coming from after the agreement is finalized.
