Senate Committee Removes Rape & Incest Exceptions From Abortion Ban

(Columbia, SC) -- The full South Carolina Senate will begin debate on an abortion ban today.

A measure passed by the House would ban all abortions except in cases of rape or incest up to 12 weeks or if the mother's life was at risk.

On Tuesday, the Senate Medical Affairs Committee voted to remove the rape and incest exceptions.

They then voted 9 to 8 to advance the bill to the full Senate.
