SC Senate Fails To Pass Abortion Ban, Adds Restrictions To Six-Week Ban

(Columbia, SC) -- The South Carolina Senate is unable to pass a near-total abortion ban.

In a special session Thursday, there was a majority to pass abortion restrictions that did not include an exception for rape and incest, but Republicans did not have the votes to end a filibuster of the bill.

This comes after all of the Senate's women refused to support the measure.

Instead, the Senate passed changes to the rape and incest exceptions to the state's six-week abortion ban, which now goes to the House.
