Gov. McMaster Declares State Of Emergency For South Carolina

(Columbia, SC) - South Carolina is under a state of emergency due to Hurricane Ian.

Governor McMaster announced the decision Wednesday afternoon after the hurricane made landfall in Florida.

He says there are no evacuation orders, but that the state of emergency allows officials to move quickly to help residents and to use federal FEMA money for disaster relief.

The state of emergency declaration also activates the state's National Guard to begin positioning its troops.
