(Lake Murray, SC)- The Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board is planning a new event after seeing the monetary benefits of fishing tournaments.
Officials say one fishing tournament from six months ago brought in over 21-million dollars.
Then, within the last six months, three other fishing events generated over six-million dollars in tourism.
Now the tourism board is working on a new steak and fish cook off featuring regional chefs on the dam- it's set for the fall.
