SC Senate Amends And Passes Bill To Criminalize Fentanyl Trafficking

(Columbia, SC) -- A bill that would criminalize fentanyl trafficking is returning to the South Carolina House for consideration.

The measure was passed by the state Senate after they added a penalty enhancement if those convicted of the crime were also found with a gun in their possession.

If the House passes the bill during the special legislative session they are currently in, it will head to Governor McMaster, who is expected to sign it.

If it is not passed during the special session, it will likely not be finalized until next year.
