Security Efforts Underway At This Year's South Carolina State Fair

(Columbia, SC)-- New security efforts are in place at the South Carolina State Fair this year.

The 12-days of festivities kicked off with hundreds of attendees showing up Wednesday. The fair director of safety says 50 to 70 police officers will be on site each weekday to patrol.

This year, the State Fair requires all minors on fairgrounds property to be accompanied by a parent.

There are also metal detectors at fair gates and a clear bag policy.
