A Columbia Police officer is facing charges in connection to a domestic incident.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department responded to an apartment early Saturday morning. Thirty-year-old Efrain Galdamez is accused of attempting to choke a woman, causing injuries to her neck, during an argument.
Officials say Galdamez has worked for the Columbia Police Department since January of 2023, but was fired upon his arrest.
