Today Susan Rice had a closed door meeting with the 3 most outspoken GOP opponents to her possible Secretary of State nomination. That's Kelly Ayotte of NH, Lindsey Graham of SC and John McCain of AZ. 

Susan rolled in to the meeting with acting CIA Director Michael Morrel. She is trying to have the CIA fall on the sword that she fell on back on Sept 16th. That is when she went on every network (like in this clip with CBS) to discuss the "outrageous claims of the GOP" that the murder of our Ambassador and 3 other American's in Benghazi was some sort of terrorist act. "In reality our best intelligence at this time indicates it began spontaneously in Benghazi as a reaction to what had transpired some hours earlier in Cairo. Where of course as you know there was a violent protest outside of our embassy, sparked by this hateful video". The whole world said she was full of crap the minute she said it, because it would be impossible for a spontaneous anything to develop which starts at 10pm and continues till 2am which includes continuous firing by 125-150 heavily armed men with high powered assault rifles, diesel canisters, mortars, and heavy machine guns, artillery mounted on gun trucks and ROCKET PROPELLED GRENADES! Then we found out that for months before the attack the Ambassador had been sending requests for more security. And in those requests was making comments like "the region has become a security vacuum that a diverse group of actors are exploiting for their own purposes". And in another, described Al Qaeda flags are now being seen flying over government buildings. The White House also received an e-mail from the CIA stating Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibility for Benghazi Attack. There's some shady stuff going on here. Petraeus the former head of the CIA said their initial intelligence report including all the Al Qaeda/al-Sharia stuff but someone took that out before giving it to Susan Rice. But Susan Rice, as one of Obama's senior foreign policy advisor's, would have also been privy to the raw intel.So she should at least be aware that the CIA was saying it before it was taken out of her talking points. Also, some claim a bag of rocks could tell you this wasn't a spontaneous reaction to an offensive youtube video. All that makes Susan, who we're constantly reminded was a Rhodes Scholar so she can't be stupid, seem guilty of trying to make Benghazi appear like something it wasn't, in order to help the President save face with the American people 6 weeks before an election. Now the Pres wants to thank her with a promotion to Sec of State. But these pesky Republican's keep saying they'll do whatever to keep her from getting that is a problem. So she tried to smooth it over by going behind closed doors to no doubt say something to the effect of "I know what Patreous said but we all know he was a liar. Look at how he lied to his wife! Here's the new CIA Director and he can be trusted when he tells you that I had no possible way of knowing this was anything more than a protest that got a little out of hand". I'm sad to see the GOP 3 held a press conference right after their meeting in which they said they were more troubled now then before their meeting with Susan. I wanted them to buy it! Apologize publicly for doubting her. And when Obama nominated her let her breeze through the confirmation hearings. But just before she gets off the stand, while she's still under oath, have a Columbo moment.

 "There's just one more thing that's bothering me ma'am. I'm sure it's nothing but...." That's the time to have the fight. Out in the open, when she's under oath and she's relaxed. Now if Obama does nominate her he's doing it knowing that the GOP crew will be hammering her with questions and they'll have every word practiced to make sure she walks the fine line between truth and prison.
