Last month Department of Homeland Security (DHS) directed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to release 2000 Illegal Alien Prisoners (IAP). The GOP said this looks at worst like a criminal offense and at best like part of a sequester campaign to make American's suffer under the cuts. DHS Director Janet Napoletano replied that the GOP needed to realize this was part of the SeqUester Cuts Impact Today policy aka SUC IT.

Of course we were all pretty freaked out when AP reported that Janet had DHS buy 1.6 billion rounds of ammo. Yes with a B! At the height of the Iraq war, the US used 6 million bullets per month. So she has stocked up for a 20 year rager. Why? Oh that's right she couldn't use a lot of that ammo in war because a lot of it is hallowed out ammo and forbidden by international law for use in war zones so that must be for....
Then this week the NY Times reports; Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers were taken aback at a hearing on Wednesday in the House of Representatives when Mark Borkowski, a senior Homeland Security official, said he had no progress to report on a broad measure of border conditions the department had been working on since 2010.
We also heard yesterday that Janet has extended "Trusted Traveler" status to Saudi Arabia. There's only 4 countries in the world we have given that status to. Any Saudi travelers cleared through the program will now be able to bypass the normal customs line after providing passports and fingerprints. The status lasts for five years. Of all the countries on the planet Saudi Arabia has the most airplane terrorists. 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11/01 were from Saudi Arabia. In 2010 Hillary Clinton said Saudia Arabia is the largest funder of terrorism in the world. They also produce the most suicide bombers.
Now after all of those baffling decisions comes today's announcement that DHS is going to start monitoring more citizens private e-mails along with watching what web sites you visit. This comes as an executive order from the President who believes that citizens who work at banks, power companies, and other industries that are vital for our nation to function, could be targets of blackmail or even terrorists themselves. In theory this gives DHS authority to monitor just about anyone with a job. You may be laughing and thinking "I bag groceries at Bi Lo". DHS sees you as someone someone who controls the food supply to thousands of American's! What about the guy working the register at Pitt Stop? Oh you mean the man controlling the fuel supply? The hairdresser at Supercuts? Confidant to city leaders. They can spin it so everyone is important, aka worthy of monitoring.
So DHS is getting new uniforms, new military vehicles, new ammo, and new access to our computers, while at the same time softening the boarders and inviting the #1 producer of terrorism into our country on the Trusted Traveler perk. If you tell me now isn't the time to panic I have to assume you are now one of them.
