Seventeen years in prison.
That's the sentence for a former Winnsboro police officer who shot his estranged wife while on duty last year.
43-year-old Michael Roseboro was originally charged with attempted murder, but pled guilty to a reduced charge of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
In October, Roseboro shot his wife from his patrol vehicle along Eighth Street in Winnsboro as she stood on the sidewalk and in front of their children.
He then drove off in the police car and disappeared for five days until authorities found him at a church camp in Great Falls.
As officers were closing in on him, Roseboro shot himself in the chest.
