Students at the University of South Carolina are continuing to collect donations to benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Thursday evening, Beta Theta Pi fraternity sponsored an event where participants ran, jogged and walked around the Greene Street fields near Colonial Life Arena.
USC freshmen Riley Brady talked about the sale of T-shirts with the slogan, “Run for Boston.”
“We ended up selling 148 T-shirts. We also took in a lot of donations and we ended up with a grand total of $2,800 at the event itself,” Brady tells WVOC.
“But at this point, through online donations we're up to $3,300 and we're still waiting for all the online T-shirt orders to come in.”
Brady says the T-shirts are still being sold online – Tuesday's the last day.
And donations are still being accepted online through Friday.
The money collected will go to the Richard Family Fund. Eight-year-old Martin Richard was killed in the bombings and his sister and mother are in critical condition.
