Richland County officials have released the names of three finalists to be the county's new elections chief.
The State newspaper reports they are Orangeburg County Elections Director Howard Jackson, Sumter County Elections Director Patricia Jefferson, and the elections director for Gaston County, North Carolina – Adam Ragan.
We're told one of them could be chosen early next week.
Richland County State Representative Jimmy Bales told the newspaper the finalists exceed qualifications for experience and education.
The new director would replace Lillian McBride, who resigned after numerous problems with the November 6th General Election, ranging from too few voting machines to lengthy voting lines to misplaced ballots.
However, McBride was hired back in a new position as a deputy director.
