A Kershaw County man is accused of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl.
On Monday, the girl's mother contacted the Sheriff's Office and said her daughter had been sexually involved with 35-year-old Jonathan Ray of Lugoff.
Sheriff Jim Matthews says both the girl and Ray were interviewed and they provided detailed accounts of their relationship.
Ray has been charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, which carries a prison sentence up to 20 years if convicted.
Matthews says Ray has a lengthy criminal record dating back to 1995 that includes arrests for accessory after the fact of murder, burglary, breach of trust and several drug violations.
