Five men have been arrested in Richland County after authorities linked them to stolen weapons and drugs.
The Sheriff's Department Gang Task Force received information from a concerned resident about possible illegal activity at 211 Shealy Street.
Deputy Curtis Wilson tells WVOC, “We were able to obtain some handguns, even assault rifles, archery equipment, military-style ballistic vests, flat-screen TVs, several boxes of cookware and even some cash as well.”
Wilson says almost one pound of marijuana was also seized.
“We believe that these individuals were affiliated with some sort of gang and we're working to obtain more information as to the operation that was going on and where these items actually originated from – where were they stolen from,” Wilson says.
Charged with possession of stolen firearms and possession with intent to distribute marijuana are 19-year-old Khiry Williams, 21-year-old Marquis Clark, 33-year-old Rico Felder, 33-year-old Andre Daniels, and 42-year-old Jimmy Clark.
Authorities say more arrests are possible.
