A father and daughter have died in a house fire outside Aiken that authorities are treating as arson. The investigation revealed that there were "multiple areas of origin" inside the residence which classify this case as a crime. Physical evidence collected from the scene will be sent to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for analysis
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton says 28-year-old Dunkan Baker and his 2-year-old daughter died in the fire Saturday morning. He says both died of thermal injuries and smoke inhalation.
Carlton says the daughter was pronounced dead at the scene while Baker was pronounced Saturday afternoon at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
