Brett Parker's daughter was among those to testify as the defense began its case Thursday in his double-homicide trial.
14-year-old Brooke Parker told jurors she overheard her father suggest that his sports bookie clerk, Bryan Capnerhurst, should take a gun from her father for home protection.
The defense had her testify to support her father's claims that Capnerhurst used that gun to killer Brett Parker's wife, and that Parker had to shoot Capnerhurst in self-defense.
Prosecutors maintain Parker killed both his wife and Capnerhurst to get out of gambling debts and a troubled marriage.
As Parker's daughter continued to testify, her comments conflicted with what she had previously told police and she began sobbing on the witness stand.
But she told defense attorneys she was not making things up to protect her father.
