COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - South Carolina's population grew more than 2% between 2010 and 2012.
And new numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau show the fastest growing areas are along the state's coast.
The Palmetto State's population is now 4.7-million, up about 100,000 people between 2010 and 2012.
South Carolina also has three of the nation's fastest growing counties and three of its fastest growing municipalities.
Berkeley County was the state's fastest-growing county during the period, growing 6.7%.
Horry and Dorchester counties are also among the 100 fastest growing counties in the U.S.
Mount Pleasant is the nation's 38th fastest growing municipality, up almost 6% from two years earlier.
Charleston and North Charleston are also among the 100 fastest-growing municipalities.
