COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - Officials say a fire that damaged 24 apartments at a Columbia complex earlier this month is a case of arson.
Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins says the June 12th fire at The Club at Carolina Stadium was deliberately set.
The blaze caused about $400,000 in damages.
Jenkins has released little other information about his department's probe. But the chief did say that officials want to thank a person seen in security footage knocking on doors to alert residents to the fire.
Anyone with information on that person or other aspects of the investigation is asked to call the City of Columbia Fire Marshal's Office at (803) 545-3701 or the South Carolina Arson Hotline at (800)-92-ARSON.
