QUINBY, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - The National Weather Service has confirmed it was a tornado that destroyed at least nine homes and damaged eight others at a mobile home park in Florence County Tuesday night.
No deaths were reported but at least seven people were injured – no life-threatening situations, mostly cuts and bruises.
A 6-year-old child was among some who had to be rescued after being trapped by debris.
The Red Cross says it has been assisting 42 people displaced when the twister hit the Rosewood Mobile Home Park in the Quinby area.
Forecasters surveyed the damage Wednesday and determined the tornado had winds of about 105 miles per hour. They say the storm was 90 yards wide and the damage path was about three miles long.
It's the third twister to touch down in the state in less than a week.
Last weekend, two small tornadoes were confirmed in Horry County in the Socastee area.
