Lexington County residents can take advantage of free bus transportation beginning today along some of the community's main thoroughfares.
Pilot Bus Route 26B will be free to those seeking to access health and public services, shop or conduct general business.
The program is made possible through a donation from local community activist and pastor Bishop Darrell Croft.
The Pilot Bus Route runs through September 30th and provides round-trip service three times each Monday, making stops in Cayce, West Columbia and the town of Lexington.
The bus departs from the Downtown Transit Center in Columbia and travels to Lexington's Red Bank Crossing at 1070 South Lake Drive – the site of the county Health Department, state Department of Social Services and Lexington-Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council.
