A 4-year-old girl was wounded Monday night in Columbia when two groups exchanged gunfire near the Colony Apartments.
Police say the child was watching TV when she was hit by a stray bullet about 8 p.m.
She was taken to the hospital for surgery and at last report was in critical but stable condition.
Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons says the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, but she called it a “disgusting” crime that hurt an innocent child.
She says investigators are looking for a silver Dodge Charger (pictured below).
It's believed the gunfire was between occupants of that vehicle and a group of people on foot.
