A Newberry County teenager died in a drowning incident Tuesday night.
The Sheriff's Office says several people were swimming in a pool about 6:30 p.m. when they noticed LaQuan Parker Jr. become unresponsive.
He was pulled from the water and a neighbor administered CPR.
Emergency responders arrived and continued efforts to revive Parker on the way to a hospital.
Sheriff Lee Foster says paramedics and emergency room personnel were able to get Parker breathing again, but he died a short time after being moved to a hospital in Greenville.
The Pomaria teen was a recent graduate of Mid-Carolina High School, and would have turned 19 today.
In an unrelated incident, dive teams are scheduled to resume searching today for a swimmer thought to be missing at an Aiken County pond.
Officials say two men and a woman were swimming outside the designated swimming area at Langley Pond about 5 p.m. Wednesday when they encountered problems.
Bystanders were able to rescue one man who was last reported in critical condition, and the woman reportedly accompanied him to the hospital.
The second man has not been found, but authorities say no one actually saw him go under the water.
Officials say the other two swimmers had just met the second man, so not a lot is known about him.
