COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - A South Carolina nursing home operator has pled guilty to defrauding $1-million from the state's Medicaid program.
State Attorney General Alan Wilson says 53-year-old Richard Cooke of Lake View plead admitted to over-billing Medicaid from 2009 to 2011 by submitting fraudulent cost reports involving six nursing homes he operated.
In the Midlands, those include Azaleawoods Rehab and Nursing Center in Aiken and McCoy Memorial Nursing Center in Bishopville.
Wilson says Cooke will serve a year of house arrest and five years probation.
He was also ordered to make restitution and paid $500,000 toward that Wednesday.
