The Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Office says Alan Smith has been found guilty by a Richland County jury on 30 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Smith was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Prosecutors say he was arrested in March 2010 when a friend using Smith's home computer reported to the Forest Acres Police Department the discovery of pornographic images of both boys and girls ages nine through 15.
Investigators seized two computers from Smith's apartment and say Smith admitted he had downloaded the pornography onto his computer and viewed pictures online.
Solicitor Dan Johnson says this is the first case in the Fifth Judicial Circuit based entirely upon computer forensics.
