Narcotics agents in Lexington County say they've seized thousands of dollars worth of marijuana plants and drugs from a sophisticated indoor growing operation near Swansea.
Officers arrested the property owners – John Tindall and his wife Brenda, both 49 – on drug trafficking and weapons charges.
Investigators say the Tindalls used an old home and another building on their property in the 900 block of Gus Sturkie Road for the indoor growing operation.
Sheriff's Major John Allard says, “The old home and building contained separate areas for growing marijuana indoors, drying marijuana and packaging marijuana for distribution. Officers seized 154 marijuana plants, approximately 15 pounds of marijuana, as well as six firearms.”
Allard says when narcotics agents went to the Tindall's property on Friday to investigate information about possible drug activity, they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the buildings and saw supplies outside that are used for indoor growing operations.
Allard says the plants and drugs had a combined street value of about $320,000.
