COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - Authorities say a Columbia father already in jail on charges involving the death of his 2-month-old son faces additional allegations of abusing his 1-year-old daughter.
Sergeant Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department says the latest charge against 22-year-old Aqien Miller is inflicting great bodily injury upon a child.
“Basically, Miller did forcefully shake and squeeze his daughter and he caused serious injuries to the upper and also lower body,” Wilson says.
It's alleged the child abuse happened between May and September of last year.
Miller was charged Monday with homicide by child abuse in the death of his 7-week-old son Tyler Miller.
He was initially arrested last week after he took the baby to the hospital with suspicious injuries, then the infant died less than a day later.
County Coroner Gary Watts says the baby died from being beaten.
