An Orangeburg County man is accused of scalding a toddler with boiling water.
On July 12th, a 17-month-old boy was brought to The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg with serious burns on his feet and ankles.
Doctors say 22-year-old Deron Robinson of Cameron told them the child had spilled a pot of boiling water which splashed onto his feet.
The toddler was transferred to a burn center in Augusta.
Physicians say they noticed there were no splash marks on the boy's feet – the burned areas were even. And doctors concluded his feet had been dipped into hot water.
Investigators say they determined that Robinson had been caring for his girlfriend's son at the couple's home when the scalding occurred.
He's been charged with abuse to inflict great bodily injury upon a child.
Meanwhile, authorities say Robinson pled guilty back in 2010 to similar charges involving his son.
Police say the child was brought to the hospital with a bloated abdomen, lacerated liver and bruises.
