WINNSBORO, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - A company that makes TVs is moving a plant from China to Fairfield County.
Element Electronics plans a $7.5-million investment that's expected to generate 500 new jobs.
The new flat-screen TV manufacturing plant will be in Winnsboro in a building that's been vacant for years in the 300 block of Highway 321 Bypass North.
Company officials say they chose Fairfield County because it's close to major distribution centers for Walmart, Target and shopping channel QVC.
The company will be given job creation credits and a rural infrastructure grant of $1.3-million.
Element Electronics will begin hiring for the new positions in the fourth quarter of this year, and TV production is expected to start in December.
