SUMTER, S.C. (AP/WVOC) - Police say a 25-year-old man has turned himself in on a hit-and-run charge hours after a woman was killed on a Sumter street.
Investigators say 54-year-old Isabell Shannon was standing outside her broken-down van when she was struck by a car around 9:15 p.m. Friday.
Authorities say the vehicle also hit a second car whose driver had stopped to help Shannon.
Police determined Tyrone Dennis was the driver of the car a few hours after the crash and were trying to find him when he turned himself in around 5 a.m. Saturday.
Dennis was being held in jail without bond.
