Authorities say they've made one arrest and seized more than 50 illegal video gambling machines in Lexington County.
Sheriff's Department investigators developed information that the machines were stored at a commercial building in the 2500 block of Morningside Drive near West Columbia.
And about 6:30 Sunday evening, they executed a search warrant.
“Sheriff's investigators found 53 illegal video gambling devices...and parts...in a storage room and work area that were separated from the remainder of the Morningside Drive building with plywood walls,” says Sheriff's Major John Allard.
The storage room and work area were kept locked with a plywood door.
Allard says the machines included stand-up Chess Challenge II and Double Platinum games.
A Lexington County magistrate ruled all of them are illegal under state law and issued an order to destroy them.
38-year-old Brinton Motley of Lexington has been charged with unlawfully possessing a gambling device.
