Funeral services were held Friday for the former chief executive officer of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Ike McLeese.
He died Tuesday after suffering a heart attack in September and then going through heart surgery in October.
Hundreds attended the service at First Baptist Church in Columbia.
Mayor Steve Benjamin called McLeese the city's “most valuable player” for his impact on the business community.
Lexington Mayor Randy Halfacre cited McLeese's role in improving regional cooperation, and that brought a standing ovation from those attending, which included several local officials.
