The Sears store at Columbiana Centre will be closing in early March.
Sears is currently one of the four major “anchor” retailers at the mall in the Harbison area, but says its lease is not being renewed.
The company says the closing is part of a series of actions being taken to reduce expenses, adjust assets, and transform its business model.
The retailer also owns K-mart, and has closed three of those stores in the Columbia area over the past three years as leases expired.
The State newspaper reports the Sears at Columbia Place mall off Two Notch Road will remain open.
The closing of the Harbison store and its auto center will affect about 100 employees.
The store plans to start a liquidation sale on January 17th.
